Fumigation is a process that creates a sealed environment using phosphine gas to deactivate the life stages of warehouse pests. During this process, it is critical that the phosphine gas does not leak; otherwise, the gas will be ineffective, and the fumigation will fail. Therefore, successful fumigation must be confirmed by measuring the phosphine concentration in the environment in ppm (Parts Per Million). For outdoor safety, leak and ventilation measurements should be conducted using electronic measuring devices after the process. After the application, metal phosphine waste should be safely disposed of, and security checks should be carried out with proper ventilation before entering the area.
Phosphine gas, which has a molecular weight almost identical to air, must be sealed to prevent leaks. If sufficient gas cannot be maintained in the environment during the fumigation process, it will result in a failed fumigation.
If the egg phase is not eliminated, it may lead to re-infestation in the following days. Moreover, a low phosphine concentration may cause warehouse pests to develop resistance.
A successful fumigation process must also be technically verified. During the fumigation process, the phosphine concentration in the environment is measured in ppm.
During the application, leak measurements and post-ventilation monitoring measurements are carried out to ensure the safety of outdoor areas.
After the application, if metal phosphine waste has been used, it is deactivated and safely transported to a disposal facility as hazardous waste.
Sufficient ventilation is provided until a safe working environment is established, and security measurements are taken before granting access to the area.
